The Organic Small Tea Growers Association of North East (India) held a 3 day event earlier this year at Dimakuchi Village in Udalguri District. The event was attended by over 60 small tea growers from Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. and included technical sessions on burner and dryer technology, tea processing and tea tasting.
Presentations on soil health and leadership skills were presented by Peggy Carswell and Kel Kelly, from Fertile Ground NGO and The Small Tea Cooperative. The event was also attended by Laurie Klassen from Level Ground Trading, a buyer of naturally-grown teas being produced in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
